SPEAK+ Week One

This is it. Week One of SPEAK+.
Time to step into your power as a thought leader.

I remember my first speaking engagement. At 17 years old I was invited to share leadership lessons in front of a small group of students. I was nervous as hell. BUT I DID IT. The planner was pleased and shared a recommendation in a provincial newsletter. Suddenly I was getting calls for more bookings—I didn’t even know how to handle the requests. I didn’t have a company name or a way to invoice people….yet. I charged $150 a presentation. It was absolutely exhilarating.

That’s the gift of creating momentum. You do stuff that invites more stuff to happen. One SPEAK+ step at a time.

I have spent over 25 years learning how to package my expertise & speak with influence. SPEAK+ includes my greatest lessons on grit, content creation, productivity, confidence and impactful delivery. From keynotes to networking, my goal is to help you SPEAK UP for what you want to create.

Week One of SPEAK+ is all about CLARITY—> to create clarity around the impact you seek to make. Why do you want to get on stage and, most importantly, what do you want to say?

Ask yourself these three questions.

1. What is your expertise?

2. What experience do you want your audience to have when listening, absorbing and using your thought leadership?

3. What impact do you want to make?

Here’s the truth.
THESE ARE HARD-ASS QUESTIONS.

And another truth. YOU WILL ADAPT AND ADJUST YOUR ANSWERS ONGOING. Like forever.

This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t bother with taking the time to answer them. They are incredibly important because it is clarity that drives actions. When you have a solid understanding around your value and expertise you will move forward with big and small decisions efficiently.

Interestingly, it’s also the seeking of clarity that sabotages our motivation to make success happen (AKA put ourselves out there and ask for/create the opportunities we say we want!). So this week we are going to explore your RELATIONSHIP with clarity and how to find the balance between needing it and using it.

WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CLARITY?

How many times have you been STUCK in your head, paralyzed from moving forward because you “feel” you need to learn more and “figure things out”?

Have you ever talked yourself out of an opportunity?

Have you ever said you wanted something….like soul-deep wanted it…only to NOT take the action steps you know you need to? (OH ME! ME! ME!)

Have you ever shrunk in to the shadows even when you are invited to step into the light?

WE ALL HAVE. It’s a human thing :)

While I will support and guide you through practical action steps to creating speaking opportunities and delivering powerful thought leadership….you will need to be the one who boldy walks forward with guts, grit and absolute audacity. And being gentle with yourself in the process. xoxxo

Your Action Steps for this week…

• Grab yourself a writing pad or a journal and start making notes for yourself. First page should read in big bold letters. "I AM READY." Over the next few pages write your answers to the 3 questions above. Alternatively you can open a google doc and share your answers with me digitally as well. Whatever is best for your creative process.

• JOIN the SPEAK+ Private Facebook Group to access support and share your journey. I personally facilitate this group.

• Your customized coaching experience will guide our 1on1 conversations…each SPEAK+ student is at a different place in their RELATIONSHIP to CLARITY and articulation around their expertise, value and impact. Don’t worry, I will be sure to customize for YOUR unique journey and pace.
