SPEAK+ Week Four

Welcome to Week Four of SPEAK+.
Let’s get your creative on.

I most often speak about WorkLife Balance, or as I call it, WorkLife Synergy. In my signature talk I share a story about a time I was absolutely overwhelmed as a mom and multi-biz owner. I recall one particular day where I really shit the bed as a parent and as my frustration elevated, with my work and….in life overall! Not a fun day. A crap day actually but it taught me something that I have shared with audiences for over a decade.

Don’t balance. BOUNCE.

The concept is simple. Live your daily to-do’s with the lightness of a bouncy tennis ball and your day becomes easier! Instead of resisting the things you “have” to do…do them with a mindset of bouncing from one thing to another (or one challenge to another….or one job to another…or one kid activity to another…you get the idea).

After sharing this presentation to a group of professionals, a woman approached me and shared, “The idea of bounce over balance is a game changer. I feel less stressed already.” Oh man, that felt good to hear.

This is the magic of story telling and thought leadership. Your ideas create ripples of new thoughts….possibilities…expansion and hope. How cool is that right?

Thought leadership is not just about having ideas; it's about sharing ideas that inspire change and shape the future.

This week you begin the process of intentionally crafting your teachings into a presentation that will change lives— your signature talk.

Let’s get your creative on!

SPEAK+ Lesson & Action Steps

Let’s reflect on the busy you month you have had.

Since you started SPEAK+ you have gained clarity on your expertise, the experience you bring to an audience and of most importantly the IMPACT you seek to make.

Using these insights you developed your Impact Statement: a powerful articulation of what you offer your audience.

Remember, your Impact Statement is the foundation to all your teachings, content creation and marketing. It’s important. It’s short. It defines what you bring to the “stage” in one sentence.

Armed with a deeper understanding as to what you bring to the stage, and the tool to articulate what that is, you then created your short and professional bio’s.

LOOK AT YOU GO! ***high five’s all around***

You have basically completed 70% of your website speaker page. Your speaker page is the digital home that you direct meeting planners, collaborators, speaker bureaus and organizations to (it’s your sales page).

NOTE: In the future, you most likely will create a full website (you might have one now!) but for the purpose of this point in the SPEAK+ journey we will focus on the completion of one landing page to promote what you offer and the impact you can bring to your audience.

Now it’s time to create the outline of your signature talk. #yougotthis

A signature talk is like a speaker's secret sauce. It's that one presentation you are known for and keep rocking at events.

Here's why it's a big deal:

  1. Brand Boost: Having a signature talk gives you a consistent vibe, making you more recognizable and memorable.

  2. Show Off Expertise: It's a chance for you to flex your knowledge muscles in a particular area, proving you are the go-to person on that topic. (yes….you!)

  3. Stick in Minds: A memorable talk means people won't forget you. It's like leaving your mark in their brains (in a good way).

  4. Connect with the Crowd: Knowing your stuff frees you up to connect with the audience. No script worries, just good vibes. You WILL get there.

  5. Get Better Every Time: You can fine-tune your talk based on feedback and make it even more awesome with each delivery.

  6. Easy Prep: With a signature talk, you're not reinventing the wheel for every event. It's a time-saver.

  7. Marketability: Organizers love a speaker with a killer talk. It's like event gold.

  8. Build Trust: Consistency breeds trust. When people know what to expect and it's always great, they're more likely to trust your expertise.

I am going to guide you through your signature talk creation one step at a time. For this week the focus will be on three things: title, results, short overview.

That’s right you don’t have to create your entire presentation this week. Well you can if you want but I think there is an easier, more productive, way :)

Here’s where you will start.

TITLE: Create a title for your talk that captures the heart of the problem(s) you solve. Make it catchy but not so catchy no one knows what the heck you are talking about!

RESULTS: Define 3-5 outcomes those who attending your talk will leave with. Again make it short and to the point. Meeting planners have very short attention spans. Don’t we all, right?

SHORT OVERVIEW: What is the journey your audience can expect? Why does this journey matter? What’s unique/interesting/exciting/unconventional/intriguing about the experience they will have? Not too many words. Concise is best. And of course….hard (especially in the beginning).

Here is my current signature talk:

Synergize YOUR WorkLife Experience #yesyoucan

RESULTS: Improve personal resiliency, professional productivity and connection with your purpose. Tools to engineer an elevated WorkLife Experience.

Collectively, as Professionals, we are working hard to elevate our careers, the workplace and our community. Simultaneously, we are managing our home lives, health and mounting expectations. Determination to do it all exceptionally well makes it easy to, amongst the busy, become lost with WHO we are and WHY we are doing what we do. The result? Often a general sense of OVERWHELM that thwarts opportunity, diminishes creativity and suffocates potential (personally and professionally).  Not fun! Learn tools and techniques to cut through all that CRAZY and reconnect with YOU. Cultivate life success (what does it even mean to YOU?) based on YOUR WorkLife Priorities. Hold on. It’s a crazy ride of self-reflection, awareness and celebration. Get ready for MindSet Shifts that fuel Action Steps for results that actually matter (and feel good).

It’s time for YOU to create your signature talk outline. This outline will next be used to create your first online workshop (and live event….soon). But don’t think too far ahead. Start here. Every step builds a foundation to grow from. Exciting right?

I think so :)

Your Action Steps for this week…

  • Create your signature talk title, results and short description. Share in the SPEAK+ Private Facebook Group . When we share we inspire each other.

  • For 1on1 clients please refer to your google doc for additional action steps and customized feedback.
